Fall 2025 Assistantship Opportunities 

We know many students are interested in applying for on-campus employment at BU for the fall semester. We will update the available positions below as more academic and administrative roles become available throughout the spring - summer.

  • Unless otherwise stated, students do not receive tuition remission for on-campus positions. Students are paid weekly from a stipend or hourly rate.
  • Keep in mind that while students can hold more than one position, students can work a maximum of 20 hours per week on campus. For example, a student can hold a 5-hour position and a 15-hour position. 
  • International students can work 20 hours per week on campus and do not need separate work authorization (CPT/OPT) - www.bu.edu/isso/employment-internships/on-campus-student-employment.
  • All new BU students will have access to the University Job Board in July.
  • We will begin processing tax and payment paperwork in early September for student payroll. More information for COM positions can be found here

Most positions in the College of Communication, including teaching, research, administrative, and grading assistantships, will open between May and September. As opportunities become available, we will post them here and notify students via email. Stay tuned for updates!

Graduate Residence Life Resident Assistant

Graduate Resident Assistants live and work in on-campus housing. This is a great opportunity for master's students who would like to ensure that positive and healthy environments exist where students can live, learn, and thrive. Prior experience as a resident
assistant (RA), peer counselor, a member of the Residence Hall Council, or other type of student support role is NOT required but may be beneficial. Learn more and apply here!

Social Media Content Creator - currently accepting applications

Are you a creative, outgoing social media enthusiast? FitRec is looking for a Social Media Content Creator to bring our brand to life on Instagram, Facebook, and BlueSky! In this role, you’ll create fun, engaging content, from Instagram Reels to behind-the-scenes stories, showcasing FitRec’s programs, events, and facilities. You’ll be both in front of and behind the camera—leading quick tours, highlighting workouts, and interviewing staff and members. Basic video editing skills (CapCut, iMovie, or similar software) are a must, along with a strong understanding of social media trends and engagement tactics. If you have experience with video, photography, and content creation—and love connecting with the BU community—we’d love to hear from you! 10–15 hours per week, flexible schedule between Monday and Friday, 9 am – 5 pm, with occasional weekend hours. Hourly rate based on experience.

Marketing Communications Assistant - currently accepting applications

Are you a strong writer with an interest in marketing and communications? Boston University FitRec is hiring a Marketing Communications Assistant to support social media, email marketing, website updates, and promotional efforts. In this role, you’ll contribute to engaging social media content, draft newsletters and emails in MailChimp, update the FitRec website in WordPress, and assist with event promotion both online and on campus. Ideal candidates have excellent writing and interpersonal skills, experience in PR, advertising, or marketing, and the ability to work independently. This position is typically filled by a senior or graduate student and offers 10–20 flexible hours per week. Hourly rate based on experience.

Graduate Assistant - currently accepting applications

Supporting the advertising and publicity efforts for FitRec’s programs and facilities, this role offers a flexible 20-hour workweek. It includes a tuition remission of eight credits per semester along with a $10,000 stipend paid over nine months. Working closely with the Assistant Marketing Manager and Manager of Marketing, the Graduate Assistant will assist with creating, designing, and supervising digital assets such as digital signage, social media graphics, and web content. They will contribute to FitRec’s overall marketing strategy, including social media scanning and idea generation, and help lead the student marketing team by managing project timelines and coordinating video shoots. A portfolio of creative work will be required during the interview process, and applicants must be accepted into a graduate degree program at Boston University to be eligible for this position.
