Fall 2025 Assistantship Opportunities
We know many students are interested in applying for on-campus employment at BU for the fall semester. We will update the available positions below as more academic and administrative roles become available throughout the spring - summer.
- Unless otherwise stated, students do not receive tuition remission for on-campus positions. Students are paid weekly from a stipend or hourly rate.
- Keep in mind that while students can hold more than one position, students can work a maximum of 20 hours per week on campus. For example, a student can hold a 5-hour position and a 15-hour position.
- International students can work 20 hours per week on campus and do not need separate work authorization (CPT/OPT) - www.bu.edu/isso/employment-internships/on-campus-student-employment.
- All new BU students will have access to the University Job Board in July.
- We will begin processing tax and payment paperwork in early September for student payroll. More information for COM positions can be found here.
College of Communication Positions
Most positions in the College of Communication, including teaching, research, administrative, and grading assistantships, will open between May and September. As opportunities become available, we will post them here and notify students via email. Stay tuned for updates!

COM Research Assistant – Fall 2025
COM Professor Susanna S. Lee is seeking a Research Assistant for the Fall 2025 semester. Her research primarily explores consumer responses to AI-generated advertising, using experimental approaches and computational methods, such as textual analysis of social media comments. 10 hours per week.
Preferred Qualifications

Background in advertising, media science, or emerging media sectors

Interest or experience in experimental research design, AI in media, or computational analysis

Strong organizational and communication skills

Experience with social media data or tools for textual analysis (e.g., Python, R, NVivo, etc.) is a plus

COM CM529 Teaching Assistantship:
Seeking (2) Teaching Assistants for CM529 - Advanced Design Strategy and Software for Fall 2025. This class focuses on a semester-long project. Students develop and brand the project in Adobe software and then create a website and app for their project in Figma.
Responsibilities
- Provide feedback to students during class time on work
- Assist in answering technical questions that come up during class, both during feedback and during tutorial
Requirements
- Current BU grad student
- Approx. 2 semesters of experience in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
- Approx. 2 semesters of experience in Figma
- Time Management
- Comfortable providing weekly design feedback to students on work
TA Position 1, Section B1:
- Tuesday/Thursday, 9:30–10:45am
- 2.5 hours/week at $22.65/hour
- Class time only, no additional office hours required
TA Position 2, Section A1:
- Tuesday/Thursday, 5–6:15pm
- 2.5 hours/week at $22.65/hour
- Class time only, no additional office hours required

Social Media Content Creator, COM Marketing & Communications Office:
We are seeking two reliable, professional, and creatively minded students to together create original content for the COM TikTok channel. As the voice of COM on TikTok, you will aim to create engaging and sometimes humorous vertical video content that shares the COM experience. As a team, these creators will produce at least one video per week. Requirements: Mobile video creation skills (filming with a phone, editing with CapCut or similar software, etc); adherence to brand and content guidelines. A sense of humor and creativity are a plus! Schedule: 4 hours each week, with one hour devoted to a weekly check-in meeting with COM’s Digital Storyteller and assistance with video production on campus.
